Campaign Kickoff with Newt Gingrich

Last Wednesday, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich came to Utah to participate in my official campaign kickoff, along with former Senator Jake Garn, Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce president Lane Beattie, and over 350 other supporters. It was a great event, and I’m grateful that so many of my fellow Utahns were willing to take time out of a busy workday to help me officially launch my campaign.

Within the next five years, we have to rein in the massive entitlement spending that is bankrupting our nation while, at the same time, keeping the promises we have made to our senior citizens. This will be the central focus of my next term, and I’m running for reelection because we can’t afford to wait to solve this problem.

The fight is now.

I’ve prepared a short video summary of the event that addresses this issue in more detail.

Excellent video. However, there are some problems with cutting all Federal Money. Utah is dependent on Federal money for Hill Air Force Base, Highway building and for public schools, to name a few. Is there a way around these Federal Funds?

  2. Cydney Neil says:

I was so excited and proud to be at this rally. I agree with everything I heard. Bob has my vote and my support.

We are still on board Senator!

I was honored to attend your campaign kick off. I agree with your stand on controlling entitlements. I also agree with Newt Gingrich in his dedication to bringing God back into our lives and Country. Together we CAN return this country to the true United States of America we have protected and served. I’m here to help.

Thank you for your great effort and vision. I applaud and support you.

  6. Ronald Rex says:

You have lots of good words and good plans. My question is:
Many of the problems you address have been around for the past 18 years. They have not been solved. Why? Why would the next 6 years be any different? What would you do differently to accomplish in the next 6 years what you didn’t accomplish in the last 18? I know you are only 1 of 100 senators. Why shouldn’t some one else now have an opportunity to try? I may well vote for you again, but will first evaluate the competition. Keep up the good things that you are doing.

  7. Larry Meyers says:

How can Senator Bennett say that he is going to take on out-of-control spending when, in just the past year, he has been part of the problem? He has voted to provide $48 billion to a global fund against AIDS, Malaria, and TB, to support research that utilizes human embryonic stem cells, to expand the Volunteerism programs in the US, including an expansion of AmeriCorps, to extend unemployment insurance benefits by 13 weeks in some States, and to provide billions for a Line of Credit to the IMF, funds to help other countries with the Swine Flu, and vouchers for car trade-ins on gas guzzlers.

  8. Sherri Matthews says:

I agree with everything Bob said in this viceo! I also agree that in the right hand we need solutions. I believe Bob has them for us. Count me in! I am ready to help in any way I can!

  9. Carl says:

I support what Senator Bennett is trying to do. We need more like him.

  10. Jerrolyn Fidher says:

Your courage to fight for what you believe in is wonderful. Keep up the good work. You have my support.
